Silje Normand

Silje Normand is associate professor in the Department of Education and Sports Science at the University of Stavanger, Norway. She has an interdisciplinary background within cultural history, literature and language from Harvard University and the University of Cambridge. Her current research interests include critical literacies and pedagogies, intercultural citizenship education, language and identity, and arts-based teaching and research methodologies. She heads the interdisciplinary research group Democracy and Citizenship (DEMCI), focused on participatory research and inclusive education, and her international research collaborations include the Erasmus+ projects CLAE I and II: Critical Literacy and Awareness in Education (2017-2019 and 2019-2022) and the EU Horizon projects EnviroCitizen (2020-2023) and Skills4Justice (2023-2026).
